Backpackers

Monsoon is arriving which means the season of nature, nature blossoms up with greenery, peacock dances and many beautiful moments occur in the environment that are pleasant to experience. One such occasion is the blooming of fireflies; it’s wonderful to watch the fireflies (Kajve) at night in a dark forest. We can’t see the fireflies blooming in all seasons; they are only visible at the last week of May month to the first two weeks of June. To experience such a fascinating panorama we decided to visit the forest covers which are to the backside of Morbe dam.

Night sky with fireflies

I left my dwelling around 6:30 PM and departed towards Alankar Mama’s house; from there we departed towards Pratik Dada’s house at Ranjanpada and exchanged the car and at last, we picked up our fourth member, Vishal dada from Ulve node and started our main journey towards Morbe dam. After one to one and a half hour hours of travelling, we finally reached our destination. As soon as we entered deep into the forest we saw beautiful orange fireflies blooming all across the shrubs. To observe it more clearly we shut of the car and climbed on the car roof. The fireflies were looking like the stars glooming on trees. The view was so magnificent that we were lost in it. After much of relaxing and enjoying the scenery we turned back to the Vishal dada’s farm house at Nigdoli. It was almost 12:00 Am when we reached the farmhouse. We sanitized ourselves and got ready for the dinner. For dinner, we had bhakri and ladyfinger. While we were arriving from our place we stopped near Derawli to get some snacks for tomorrow's breakfast and lunch, we ate there gulkand and mava flavor ice cream which was amazing.

We were awake till late at night sharing some sweet memories and getting some important tips. There was a hillock in front of the farmhouse and we had some information that there were old ruins and a temple at the top. So we decided to visit that place. As soon as we all got up in the morning, we started getting ready for a small trek. So we had breakfast and then packed the bags with essential items. We were totally unknown about the correct route to the top so finding the correct route was really a challenge for us. At about 11:00 Am, we started the trek, when one route was divided into two Alankar mama and Vishal dada used to go forward and ensure which one was the safer and correct route. Even though taking these precautions we were stepping on wrong route and we were realizing it after moving on for long distance. At least we had been misleading four to five times. One of those wrong routes had taken us to the spot where a landslide had occurred. On the route there were Karvanda trees and karvanda were also very sweet everybody enjoyed tasting it. While taking a rest for some time the cold breeze blowing through the air refreshes the mind and encourages for further move. After 3 hours of trek, we reached a point quite at the top but which was not the actual top. As we sat down relaxing and had some banana chips, it started raining heavily. As we did not know the correct path to reach the top we decided to return. While we were climbing down we saw the correct path and started moving towards it, after continuing the walk on the correct path we intercepted a local man living there, we got the information that the point from where we started returning from the top was just 10 to 15 minutes. But at that time no one was interested in again climbing up and rain had converted the soil into muddy form so it had also become difficult to climb down. That local man also told us the further path to move down so we accelerated our pace and started moving down rapidly. After 45 minutes of continuous walking we got the sight of normal tar road and small wadi so we all were relaxed and starting walking at normal pace. After continuing that tar road for 15 minutes we reached our farmhouse. Only Alankar Mama and Vishal dada were having raincoats, me and Pratik dada were without raincoats so as soon as we stepped into the farmhouse we first removed our clothes, took a bath, and wore some warm clothes.

Landslide

Even though we didn’t reach the top we all enjoyed the trek. It had given us some different thrill and experience. After getting refreshed we enjoyed lunch which consisted of magi, kanda bhaji, egg bread, we removed some mangoes from the mango tree that was in front of farm farmhouse then we cleaned that place and started the returning journey.

This trip was really different from the other picnic and trekking. We enjoyed the beauty of forest covers at night and faced the puzzle of routes in the daytime. This everything will be going on further also and we will be enjoying more and more……..
